Liver disease is common in dogs and cats. Veterinary medicine seeks to control the incidence of liver disease through vaccinations, and to treat liver disorders using diet modification, glucocorticosteroids to reduce inflammation, and antimicrobial drugs to eliminate bacterial hepatitis. There are few pharmaceuticals that actively regenerate liver tissues.

The liver is remarkable in its ability to regenerate itself after injury, and this formula fills the gap in Western medical therapies. It has products that can help the liver regenerate itself. Silymarin is a nutraceutical extract from the herb Milk Thistle, Silibum marianum. Silymarin appears to have liver protectant and liver restorative properties. Studies have shown that Silymarin will lower liver enzyme values. The herb Curcuma, also called Turmeric, may have the ability to help hepatocytes regenerate themselves. With liver damage, oxides and free radicals are often produced. Lipoic acid is gaining increased attention for its role as a biological antioxidant. As lipoamide, it functions as a cofactor in oxidative decarboxylation reactions of pyruvate, alpha-ketoglutarate and branched chain ketoacids. Dimethylglycine is an effective methyl donor and can assist in liver detoxification. The detoxification pathways of the liver require certain nutrients, including cyanocobalamine, methionine, and pyridoxal-5-phosphate. N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) is derived from the amino acid, cycteine, and is a stable thiol compound containing a free sulfhydryl group. NAC is a nutritional precursor for the liver's primary antioxidant, glutathione.

 

Explanations Of Individual Ingredients:

Dimethylglycine (DMG), 50 mg  DMG will increase energy to the liver cells and promote liver detoxification and protein metabolism by its ability to donate methyl groups.
Pyridoxal-5-phosphate, 5 mg The liver needs to produce new cells to heal itself, and pyridoxine is needed for cell growth. Pyridoxine is often deficient with cases of liver disease. Its inclusion in this formula will benefit all tissues of the body, as well as the liver.

Cyanocobalamine (vitamin B12), 50 mg

Choline Citrate, 20 mg Choline is important for the processing of fats and regulation of the gallbladder. Adequate levels of choline will keep fat from being deposited in the liver (it is a lipotrophic agent)
N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine, 100 mg N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine is a powerful liver detoxifier. One of its most important functions is in its ability to recycle glutathione to its reduced state. Glutathione is perhaps the liver's most important antioxidant.
Milk Thistle (Silymarin 80%), 50 mg Silymarin comes from the herb Milk Thistle. It has powerful liver protectant and liver restorative properties. Numerous studies have shown that Silymarin will lower liver enzyme values.
Turmeric extract (Curcuma longa), 50 mg Curcuma, also called Turmeric, has well- documented research supporting its use as a hepatocellular regenerator
Alpha-Lipoic Acid, 10 mg Lipoic acid has potent antioxidant, antiviral, free radical quenching and immune-boosting qualities. It reduces the development of cirrhosis. Overall, Lipoic acid reduces the oxidative damage that occurs in many liver disorders.
