Diabetes is due to a failure to produce adequate insulin by the pancreas. Insulin is needed by cells to absorb sugar (glucose). In diabetics, cells are sick because they do not recieve adequate energy or sugar.

Diabenil can be used in diabetics recieving insulin. It can also be used in prediabetics
They are also sick because the body has excess amounts of sugar in the blood; excess sugar dries out the body's cells. Cellular dehydration leads to a large number of life threatening events. For most diabetics, insulin injections are required, but do not meet all the needs of the diabetic. Cells still become dehydrated, cells still do not recieve adequate glucose.

Diabenil is designed to help cells achieve a more optimal health, and is often quite helpful in regulating diabetics.

Diabenil is a unique blend of botanicals and nutrients designed to help maintain already normal blood sugar levels. It can be used in diabetics already receiving insulin. It also can be used in prediabetics. In addition, it contains important antioxidants and flavonoids to protect sensitive tissues of the body.

Insulin has long been the major therapy in treating diabetes. In our experience, to maintain optimal health, insulin alone is rarely enough to control all the symptoms of diabetes. Diet and the appropriate herbs make all the difference in maintaining the highest quality of health possible.

    Chromium picolinate, 100 mcg

Chromium is added to the formula because it increases glucose uptake into cells. For years it has been called the "Glucose Tolerance Factor." Chromium is probably the least important component of this formula, but may work synergistically with the other components to improve glucose utilization by cells.

    Vanadium sulfate, 3 mg

Vanadium seems to sensitize cells to insulin when the cell is insulin deficient. Vanadium stimulates the insulin-stimulated glucose transporter type 4 (GLUT4) translocation. This would seem to indicate that vanadium will enhance insulin response on GLUT4 translocation, thus increasing glucose cellular uptake.

    Gymnema Sylbestre, 200 mg

Gymnema Sylvestre has been used for years in India. It soothes the stomach, is a diuretic, an astringent, and a tonic. Its primary role as an herb, however, is in diabetes, where it appears to enhance endogenous insulin, possibly by regeneration or revitalization of the residual beta cells in insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. This increases the activity of enzymes responsible for glucose uptake and utilization.

Momordica charantia (Bitter Melon extract), 80 mg

Momordica charantia has hypoglycemic actions and is anti-diabetic in its actions. Muscle content of facilitative glucose transporter isoform 4 (GLUT4) protein is significantly increased when Bitter Mellon extract is fed orally to mice. This suggests that the anti-diabetic effect of MC is derived, at least in part, from a decrease in insulin resistance because of the increase of GLUT4 protein content in the plasma membrane of the muscle.

    Alpha Lipoic Acid, 100 mg

Lipoic acid is a potent antioxidant in both water- and fat-soluble mediums that can significantly reduce lipid peroxidation of nerve tissue. It has also been found to inhibit an enzyme that results in a decrease in the production of sorbitol.

Billberry extract (Vaccinium myrtillus) 80 mg

Vaccinium myrtillus (bilberry) contains important anthocyanoside flavonoids that appear to have a particular affinity and support for ocular tissue, particularly the retina. These flavonoids strengthen blood vessels and help stabilize collagen, maintaining healthy connective tissues.

    Quercitin, 400 mg

Quercetin, in addition to its collagen-stabilizing effects, inhibits an enzyme that converts glucose to sorbitol. Once formed, sorbitol can accumulate in the lens of the eye, kidneys, and nerves of the extremities.

Diabenil is not only helpful with diabetes, but has been proven in our clinical practice to be beneficial for ferrets with insulinomas. For more information on insulinomas, click here.
