Indications:
Heart disease in dogs and cats is most often associated with either cardiomyopathy or congestive heart failure secondary to heart valve insufficiency. This formula will help patients with most heart conditions. It can safely be used in conjunction with western medicines for heart disease.
Hawthorne Berry has long been known to improve contraction of heart muscles, and is one of the best herbs for a strong heart. It has a positive inotropic and chronotropic effect. The positive inotropic effect of Hawthorne berry, although very helpful for all heart patients, is too weak to be detrimental for almost all patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Glandular therapy has long been understood to strengthen the targeted organ - the heart in this case. Heart glandular tissue is included in this formula in the hope that it will help regenerate the heart muscles. Siberian ginseng has a positive inotropic effect on the heart. It improves circulation and has a modest diuretic effect as well. Vitamin E, along with Selenium, enhances heart muscle function. It also improves circulation.
L-Carnitine improves fat metabolism, helping prevent fat deposits around the heart, and transports fats into the mitochondria. Carnitine provides the fuel the heart needs to pump, and oxygenates heart muscle cells. Coenzyme Q10 is one of the most important ingredients in this formula. It increases heart muscle strength, improves energy flow into the heart, enhances oxygenation of the heart, and lowers blood pressure. DMG will strengthen the heart through a process called transmethylation. It will increase the available energy to help the heart muscles contract.
In a controlled study, patients with cardiomyopathy showed significant symptomatic relief in coronary heart failure from NYHA class III to NYHA class I when given Terminalia arjuna extract. Tribulus has been used as a diuretic and hypotensive agent, as well as an agent promoting cardiac muscle contraction.
Actions of Specific Ingredients:
Vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol), 70 IU
Vitamin E, along with Selenium, enhances heart muscle function. It also improves circulation.
Selenium picolinate, 7 mcg
Selenium, along with Vitamin E, enhances heart muscle function.
L-Carnitine , 140 mg
Carnitine improves fat metabolism, helping prevent the development of fat deposits around the heart, and transports fats into the mitochondria. Carnitine provides the fuel the heart needs to pump and oxygenates heart muscle cells.
L-Taurine, 140 mg
Taurine is found in high concentrations in heart muscles, where it helps calcium absorption and muscle contraction. Cats are especially prone to taurine deficient heart disease.
CoEnzyme Q 10, 20 mg
Coenzyme Q 10 is perhaps the most important product in this formula. It increases heart muscle strength, improves energy flow into the heart, enhances oxygenation of the heart, and lowers blood pressure.
Dimethylglycine, 35 mg
DMG will strengthen the heart through a process called transmethylation. It will increase the available energy to help the heart muscles contract.
Hawthorne Berry , 70 mg
Hawthorne Berry has long been known to improve contraction of heart muscles, and is one of the best herbs for a strong heart. It has a positive inotropic and chronotropic effect.
Desiccated Heart, 70 mg
Glandular therapy has long been understood to strengthen the targeted organ - the heart in this case. Heart glandular tissue will help regenerate the heart muscles.
Siberian Ginseng, 70 mg
Siberian ginseng has a positive inotropic effect on the heart. It improves circulation, and has a modest diuretic effect as well
Terminalis arjuna, 17.5 mg
Terminalis seems to improve cardiac muscle contraction and cardiac output. Terminalis contain olygomeric proanthocyanidins, arjunolic acid (a triterpenoid saponins), and phystosterols. The saponins may be responsible for the positive inotropic effect. Terminalis can decrease heart rate and blood pressure in dogs.
Tribulus terrestris, 17.5 mg
Tribulus is an herb that is commonly used for coronary heart disease. It dilates coronary arteries, thus improving myocardial oxygen profusion.
