Indications:
This formula is intended to be a multiple vitamin, mineral, antioxidant product for older dogs. Older dogs will have increased needs for nutritional supplementation. As aging progresses, there are a greater number of degenerating tissues. To support healthy tissue and tissue repair, this formula has added antioxidants, vitamins, and zinc.
The aging process adversely affects the brain, also. There is decreased production of neurotransmitters, decreased synaptic density, and degeneration of neuronal membrane integrity. Phosphatidylserine has been shown to positively affect neuronal membrane through the support of the lipid membrane components, and improve the amount and function of acetylcholine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine. Acetyl Carnitine is related to acetylcholine and seems to be able to function similarly to acetylcholine. In people, it helps many age-related memory defects. Bilberry has been added for its beneficial effects on vision.
Note: Most geriatric patients will have a variety of problems that are relatively specific to the individual. This formula is intended to be used, in most situations, in addition to other formulas such as liver support formulas, intestinal support formulas and products for senility, eyes, and joint support. Most older animals will benefit from other products as well, such as: medium chain triglycerides, digestive enzymes, blood building products for skin, and Yin tonics (Chinese Herbs).
Dosage:
One tablet for each 25 lbs. body weight. Maximum of 4 daily. Best to divide the dose and give with each meal, morning and afternoon.
